1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the ChessMentor application ("App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

For users under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must read and agree to these terms.

2. Description of Service

ChessMentor is a smart chess learning app designed for Vietnamese users, supporting both Vietnamese and English. The App provides:

Free features:

All basic puzzles
AI Coach (5 uses/day, including explanations, hints, and analysis)
XP system, streaks, and achievements
Knowledge Tree — track your progress
Practice Mode — play against chess engine AI
Daily Challenge
Text-to-Speech explanations in Vietnamese

Premium features (optional):

Unlimited AI Coach
Unlimited hints
AI Voice Coach (advanced voice reading)
Analysis Board Pro
Chess board theme customization
Ad-free experience

3. Accounts

3.1. Anonymous Account

When you first open the app, the system automatically creates an anonymous account to save your progress.
You do not need to register to use the app.

3.2. Account Linking

You may link your account with Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In to sync data and protect your progress when switching devices.
When linking, you must provide accurate information.

3.3. Children

Children under 13 need parental consent to link a Google/Apple account.
Parents have the right to manage and delete their child's account at any time.

3.4. Account Deletion

You can delete your account directly in the app: Profile → Delete Account.
When you delete your account, all learning data, progress, and personal information will be permanently deleted.
Premium subscriptions (if any) are not automatically cancelled when you delete your account — you must cancel subscriptions separately through App Store / Google Play.

4. Premium Subscription Plans

4.1. Pricing

Note: Exact prices in VND and other currencies are determined by Apple App Store / Google Play Store based on your region. The price displayed on the store is the final price.

4.2. Payment

Payment is processed entirely through Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
ChessMentor does not collect or store credit card information.

4.3. Auto-Renewal

Monthly and Yearly plans auto-renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
Renewal fees will be charged to your App Store / Google Play account.

4.4. Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time:
- iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → ChessMentor → Cancel
- Android: Google Play → Subscriptions → ChessMentor → Cancel
After cancellation, you retain Premium access until the end of the current billing period.
Cancellation does not refund the fee already paid for the current billing period.

4.5. Lifetime Plan

The Lifetime plan has no expiration date and does not auto-renew.
Includes all current Premium features and any Premium features added in the future.

4.6. Restore Purchases

If you switch devices, you can restore your purchase via the "Restore Purchases" button on the Premium Subscription screen.

5. AI Coach

AI Coach uses AI technology (Google Gemini) to explain chess moves and provide suggestions in Vietnamese.
Content generated by AI is for reference purposes and is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate.
ChessMentor is not responsible for decisions made based on AI suggestions.
Free users are limited to 5 AI Coach uses per day (including explanations, hints, and analysis). The limit resets at 00:00 daily.

6. Practice Mode

Practice Mode allows you to play against a chess engine AI at various difficulty levels.
Practice progress is saved locally on your device.
Some hint features in Practice Mode may require a Premium subscription.

7. Rules of Use

By using ChessMentor, you agree to:

Use the App for personal learning purposes.
Respect ChessMentor's content and intellectual property.
Not copy, distribute, or resell App content.
Not interfere with, hack, reverse engineer, or damage the system.
Not use the App for commercial purposes without written consent.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design, source code, AI-generated content, and the ChessMentor brand are owned by MadeByBang.
Puzzle content is based on common chess knowledge and is curated specifically for the App.
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App.

9. Push Notifications

The App may send daily practice reminders and streak warning notifications.
You have full control to enable/disable notifications in app settings or device settings.
We do not send advertising or marketing notifications.

10. Limitation of Liability

ChessMentor provides the service "as-is."
We strive to keep the App running smoothly but do not guarantee 100% uptime.
ChessMentor is not responsible for:
- Data loss due to device failure or app deletion before linking an account
- Service interruptions due to maintenance or outages
- Inaccurate AI-generated content
- Price changes by Apple App Store / Google Play Store

11. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.
Upon termination, Premium access will be revoked (subscriptions must be cancelled separately through App Store / Google Play).

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time.
Significant changes will be notified through the App at least 7 days in advance.
Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam.
Disputes shall be resolved at a competent court in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
